Anne Olin, Founder of Charitable Ventures, to Address Octane’s 2021 Spring Non-Profit Accelerator Kick-Off

Santa Ana, CA (May 5, 2021) – On May 7, Anne Olin, President and CEO of Charitable Ventures, will be the featured speaker for the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) Education Day for Octane Foundation for Innovation’s 2021 Spring Non-Profit Accelerator. Charitable Ventures is a nonprofit incubator and capacity builder based in Orange County, and is a critical player in the region’s social sector, having helped to distribute more than $400 million into the community in the past 13 years. Octane Foundation for Innovation (OFI), launched by Octane, Southern California’s leading accelerator, advances equity, diversity, and inclusiveness across all industry sectors alongside Octane’s mission of growing and strengthening the Southern California innovation ecosystem.

Anne will be speaking virtually to five nonprofits selected to participate in OFI’s Nonprofit Accelerator, which provides nonprofits with the tools they need to expand their impact in the community, specifically those organizations that serve under-represented people in STEAM and healthcare.

The five participating nonprofits are Blind Children’s Learning Center, Kids@Science Foundation, Music Preserves, Project Scientist, and Vital Link.

Other Non-Profit Accelerator Education Day speakers include Linda DiMario from OFI, Marty Dutch from First Foundation, Samjhana Khanal from Amala Paradigm, and Brian Montes from Scaleocity Works.

Anne founded Charitable Ventures in 2007 to help strengthen and sustain the nonprofit sector. In the last few years, Charitable Ventures has played an essential role in building the capacity of several regional initiatives, including:

• The OC Opportunity Initiative which works to strengthen services to immigrants in the region; • The establishment and management of the first multi-tenant nonprofit center in Orange County, The Village at 17th Street;

• The management of Families and Communities Together, a County funded network of family resource centers;

• The launch and support of Project Kinship, which provides re-entry services to formerly incarcerated individuals;

• And the facilitation of 2020 Census outreach and education efforts on behalf of the nonprofit sector in Orange County.

As the cohort begins its Accelerator journey, Anne will be talking about how to build a sustainable nonprofit, especially in the post-pandemic environment we all find ourselves in.

“I’m very much looking forward to speaking at Octane’s Nonprofit Accelerator kick-off event,” said Anne Olin. “At Charitable Ventures, we work every day to build and grow the region’s nonprofit infrastructure so that we may have a healthier and more equitable Orange County, and that has been made exponentially harder by the pandemic and resulting economic realities we are all dealing with. The Nonprofit Accelerator program definitely resonates with me and the work we do to strengthen nonprofits so they can effect positive social change in our communities. I’m honored that Octane asked me to present.”

“We’re delighted that Anne agreed to speak to our incoming Spring 2021 cohort of the Non-Profit Accelerator,” said Linda DiMario, Director of Community Engagement at OFI. “Anne has the most comprehensive, holistic understanding of nonprofits and what makes them tick and achieve sustainability. Anne’s talk will both level set and inspire our five incoming nonprofits.”
